Booker given over £100 000 to customers through used cooking oil scheme

Booker, the UK's leading food & drink wholesaler, has given over £100,000 to customers' in return for their used cooking oil during the first year of the scheme.  Over 1 million litres of customers' used cooking oil has been recycled to create sustainable bio-diesel for Booker's fleet and for energy production at its Hatfield Distribution Centre.

Booker offer customers two ways to recycle their waste cooking oil to ensure they comply with current disposal regulations.  Customers can simply return the oil in a sealable container to any of Booker's 173 branches and receive money off vouchers or receive a free of charge collection service by calling 0845 120 4545.

"Booker's used oil recycling scheme has proved tremendously popular," said Ron Hickey, Sales Director – Catering.  "By taking advantage of the money back scheme Booker's catering oil is £2 lower in price which means that 20L of KTC oil nets down to only £12.19.  Thousands and thousands of customers are using the service which adds real value to their business.  As well as this, customers are also ensuring they are meeting all legal requirements for the disposal of cooking oil."
