The Group is committed to minimising the impact its activities have on the environment by ensuring efficient use of materials and energy, recycling whenever possible, minimising waste and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
In January 2009 the Group was awarded the Carbon Trust Standard, the first UK food wholesaler to achieve this award. We have an on going programme of initiatives to improve the Group’s ‘carbon footprint’ which include reducing food miles per cases sold and recycling more than 1 million litres of customers’ used cooking oil into bio-diesel.
